Transformers North is a social enterprise with the purpose of engaging and empowering vulnerable adults by providing training and opportunities to acquire new skills and confidence. They offer the chance for people to participate in positive experiences by enhancing and creating amazing outdoor and indoor spaces for the benefit of communities and individuals, boosting participants confidence, self-esteem, mental and physical well-being and enhancing employability skills for those seeking employment.
Transformers North used their grant from the Dewsbury Moor Fund to develop their community garden and food forest at Moorcroft Drive. The weekly workshops and sessions in the community garden created a safe, outdoor space where locals could come together, even engaging local primary school students. Indoor activities were available during the winter months to keep the fun going; including woodworking, wreath making, planter making and upcycling activities for all. The community was even involved in the creation of the space, helping build planting areas, painting, creating pathways, signage and more. The site also has its very own growing beds for individuals and families to adopt and is home to their fabulous Eco Rangers ( local children aged 7-11years) and Moorcroft Community Garden group, who all look after the site and neighbouring area.
