Parent Sanctuary has been supporting parents and their children for over four years. They take pride in helping parents from all backgrounds appreciate the small wins and moments of joy, even on the tough days. They are there to support the emotional, physical and mental wellbeing of families by encouraging them to engage with the outdoors, helping to reduce social isolation and connect with nature.
Parent Sanctuary used the grant they received from the Dewsbury Moor Fund to host a ‘teddy bear’s picnic’ in Crow Nest Park during the school holidays. They were able to speak to new parents about their services, helping them get a broader understanding of what local parents needed and wanted in their area. They also led group walks with the parents, enabling them to access calming, nature-based activities and develop lasting connections with other parents. Their work with other community organisations like West Yorkshire ADHD Support Group and Rainbow Baby Bank, both also working with the Dewsbury Moor area, established further links with local families, allowing their support to go even further. This grant helped build the foundation for lasting, meaningful support around child-safety, wellbeing and community connection.
