Exciting volunteer Community Reporter/Journalist Opportunity – Amplify Impact through Storytelling!

One Community is a local grant making charity, in the financial year 2021/22 we awarded over £1,000,000 to over 300 projects and this year we will be awarding over £2,000,000 to over 800 community projects and charities in Kirklees. The projects we support are tackling some of society’s greatest challenges such as food poverty, fuel poverty, access to mental health support, and carbon reduction, we also fund projects tackling issues such as anti-knife crime projects and diversionary projects for your people, increasing sporting opportunities for young people and we support a number of music festivals, arts and culture programmes including increasing access to heritage and greenspaces for communities and much more.

At One Community, we believe in the power of impactful narratives to shed light on the vital services and projects we fund. We are on a mission to bring to life the incredible work of community projects that tackle pressing societal issues.

Opportunity Details:

Location: Our office is in Huddersfield town centre; however, you are likely to want to visit our projects across Kirklees. All travel expenses are covered.

Objective: To collaborate with our team and community projects, capturing their stories, challenges, and successes to raise awareness and inspire positive change. We need more people to know about our work. We don’t want to be the best-kept secret anymore!

Hours: This is up to you, but we do ask that a minimum of 4 hours per month be pledged.

What You’ll Be Involved In:

Storytelling: Craft compelling narratives that highlight the impact of community projects on pressing societal issues.
Interviews: Engage with project leaders, beneficiaries, and volunteers to gather firsthand experiences and stories of change.
Content Creation: Develop written articles, blog posts, and potentially multimedia content to share these stories.
Social Media Engagement: Contribute to our social media channels with captivating content to amplify our message.
