the Community Foundation for the people of Kirklees.
Following the success of last year’s ‘Surviving Winter’ campaign, we are again appealing for donations to help Kirklees older people survive through the winter months.
With temperatures already dropping, there are many residents in Kirklees who are already struggling to afford expensive fuel bills, and will be unable to stay warm during the cold weather.
The Surviving Winter Appeal was inspired by individuals keen to donate their Winter Fuel Payment from the government to support people less able to pay their fuel bills.
One Community is especially keen for the ‘better-off’ over 60’s living across Kirklees who receive the winter fuel allowance to donate it the Foundation, so that it can help older folks in genuine need. The donated money will be directed to those most in need of help and will make sure they can afford to stay warm, eat well and remain mobile.
Last year, the Foundation distributed over £5,000 in grants. Funds helped with emergency boiler and radiator repairs, replacement cookers, duvets, electric blankets and hot water bottles.
Any funds donated to the appeal will go to the people of Kirklees, either directly or through other charitable organisations.
